Great products, demonstrations, information, and lots of good energy from everyone. Brought my inspiration/teenage daughter (2.5) years natural with me (11 months transitioning). She had the opportunity to ask questions and received great feedback and guidance from other natural sisters/veterans. Look forward to next year!

Very much a learning experience today. This was my first expo. I needed inspiration to continue my hair journey and I got that today. Helen, thank you!!! Hubby accompanied me today to learn as well. Yes, more vendors would have been nice but the ones that were there were great! I look forward to other ones locally in the near future.

If went late but still saw great vendors!!

    3 · November 2

  • tonya

Yes Alice. They had fo have been there, not only this year but from rhe beginning. I've seen this show grow from year 1 and it was worth the $10, this year not at all. If you knowyyou're only going to have 15 vendors then get a smaller space and drop the price. You got your hair done for free then that justified your $10...I've paid $10 and got over 200 vendors at other hair shows. You don't charge $10 because that's the going rate.... You have to look at how many vendors, the size of the space, booth rentals, classes etc. It's no different than doing hair. Folks charging outrageous prices because the next person is but the service is totally different. I think ALL natural hair shows are going down.People don't want to pay the cost to pack products, drive, hotel costs, gas, show expenses, etc. Even natural hair boutiques are closing.... White America & Asians are coming to buy it up. Look at Carol's Daughter.... Sad

    • Alice J.

Tonya, so true, I was with Nappiology also from day one. People are so closed minded until they've been to Atlanta ' s Natural Hair Expo, Chicago, New York, then they won't understand what one looks like. You get free products, you see different hairstylist s, and plenty of vendors. Alice

  • Portia H.

We had a great time. Can't wait to try my new products. It was really nice to see all the different products and share info & just to be amongst our people celebrating our uniqueness and encouraging one another. I look fwd to attending many more. The best part is to be a part of supporting black dollars keeping it in our community.

I was disappointed at this year's Expo, compared to the previous Nappiology Expo's. I felt it wasn't worth $10. I was expecting more vendors. I want to support Black entrepreneurs, but this was poorly organized.

    2 · November 2

    • tonya

It wasn't the people. It's from 9-5 so people had time to go to church and still attend. The thing is, there weren't enough vendors to justify $10. This could have been at a hotel conference room for $5/person. That's what I am saying. No doubt work went into this but if a vendor won't be there, the courteous thing to do is announce it the day of so that people won't expect them there. That's my biggest issue....

      2 · November 2

    • Sonia

I think the focus was more on the workshops than the vendors. I participated and enjoyed both, even got my hair done for free. This was my first year attending, 1 year into my journey as well and look forward to attending next year!

Really, what would you suggest ? A venue where? I thought the location would be best at the Cedar Hill Rec Center. And I would suggest diverse workshops: Hair, money, small business, domestic violence which equates to self empowerment. Just my thoughts tho'
