*Free* Professional Image Critique - Anonymous & Online

  • Mar 24, 2014 · 10:00 PM

Our online image critique events are always very popular.

This month we are inviting a couple professional photographers to help us with the critiques.

Here is how to participate
-Send two images to [masked] with the subject line April Critique. Images must be received by March 24th.
-If you want to remain anonymous do NOT watermark your image.
-Images will be posted to an album on March 25th.
-Professional critiques will be posted by April 1st.
-Check back on April 1st to review the critiques.

Our professional photographers who will be critiquing our images are.... drumroll please....

Jon Beard of

Jon is a professional photographer with many years of experience. He is the founder of the Exposure Roanoke meetup group and he regularly teaches photography in various ways. Jon is an amazing night photographer and has written a book all about night photography. It is available on Amazon Seeing in the Dark by Jon Beard. We are very lucky that Jon will be contributing to our group in a few different ways this spring. Be on the lookout for some starry night shoots! He will be a valuable addition to our group this season.

Jeff Smallwood  of

Jeff is a phenomenal photographer. He's was the previous president at the Calvert County Camera Club. I'm sure we have all enjoyed his photography on Facebook. His long exposures especially. During his time with the Calvert Camera Club he offered lots of photography education through talks and outings. His expertise will shine is this exercise and I'm really happy he's joining in on this event.

Jen Casey of

Jen is the creator of Naptown Photo along with the exposure sharing Facebook page Maryland Beauty. She is a Maryland in focus photography for the Maryland Office of Tourism. Over the last year she has spoken at over a dozen camera clubs on photography topics from color theory, low light photography to social media. You all may know her already ;)

Let me add my thanks as well. The critiques were very thoughtful and most helpful. Thanks for all the time and effort. It was a valuable learning experience.

Thank you Jen, Jeff, and Jon for your time to do this. I learned a great deal from the comments on my own photos and from those on everyone else's photos as well. I appreciated all the balanced reviews where there were comments on the good aspects of each photo as well as comments on areas where improvements could be made. I am critiquing my own work differently now.

This was such a great learning experience! I want to thank all of the professionals for their time. All of the critiques were professional, helpful, and to the point without being too brief. Quite invaluable!
