There are 7 shows scheduled this year during the three days the Ringling Brothers Circus will be in town at the Bridgestone Arena. Contact Tricia at http://www.meetup.com/nashvilleanimaladvocacy/ for more information. Let Tricia know which day and what time you'll be available either on the Nashville Animal Advocacy meet up site or as a comment on the Nashvegans site.

Protest times:

Fri, Jan 24: 9:30-10:30 am, 6-7 pm

Sat, Jan 25: 10-11 am, 2-3 pm, 6-7 pm

Sun, Jan 26: 12-1 pm, 4-5 pm

We will arrive at Bridgestone Arena one hour prior to each show. Plan on either holding signs and passing out educational information about circuses. We will leave when the show starts, so please be sure to be on time!

Last year this event was a huge success, but unfortunately not so successful that the circus stopped coming to Nashville. This year, lets make the event bigger and better. The message: Ringling Brothers reconsider using animals as entertainment!

So our fourth protest was another huge success! We even ran out of coloring books! (We'll order more next year, I guess!) Everyone be sure to come out again at 6 pm!

Our second protest was awesome!!! Lots of people came out and some great LED hula-hooping by Paige Massey, my right-hand gal! Thanks everyone for coming! Be sure to join us again tomorrow morning at 10 am!

P.S. There were FAR less circus goers this year than there were Friday night last year. I'd like to believe that's due to our awesomely successful protest last year!

So our first protest was a great success, but the next one should be bigger and better! Don't forget to come out tonight at 6 pm to protest animal cruelty!

P.S. Be sure to check out the local news channels for coverage of this morning's protest!

So I have just a few ground rules and tips:

    1. BE RESPECTFUL.
Many of us went to the circus as children or have taken our own children before we were aware of the pain the animals suffer and the atrocities committed by circus animal trainers. We must be kind and respectful when approaching everyone in line for the circus. To do anything less compromises our cause.

    2. Do not respond to heckling.
If someone starts to harass you, ignore them. There is no use getting worked up, and yelling only brings you to their level. If you cannot handle it, walk away. Do not ever raise your voice or act rudely, no matter how rude the other person is being.

    3. Dress appropriately.
It's going to be cold tomorrow, folks. Please wear heavy coats, gloves, hats, long johns, etc. It's hard to be cheerful when we're freezing our butts off, so dress accordingly!

Hi guys! So, the first day of protest will soon be upon us! I will provide materials and signs, and we will meet right under the large "Bridgestone Arena" sign.

If you are looking for parking, there are a few metered spots on Broadway but if they are all taken the cheapest parking will be at the public library parking lot, between 6th and 7th off of Church St.

Can't make it - working. What about those poor horses pulling carriages on Broadway? Have there been any protests or calls to ban that?

That's a great idea! I'll look into what Nashville Animal Advocacy can do!!!

Nice to meet you too! But just to be clear we're meeting an hour before the show at 11, so time to meet is at 10 Saturday. See you there!
