Vegan Thanksgiving Potluck

We're having a vegan Thanksgiving potluck! All are invited whether vegan or not, but all dishes must be vegan: no dairy, egg, meat, or seafood.

If you know what dish you will bring, please comment and let us know. Or if you can say whether you'll bring a side dish, salad, dessert, main, or appetizer, that will be very helpful!

The Berry Hill Community Center has seating for about 30 people, and it has a kitchen with a stove and microwave if you need to warm your dish.

This was a great event--I'm looking forward to talking to more folks at the next meetup. For those of you interested in my walnut/mushroom pate, I got the recipe from The Vegan Table. Here's the basics:
    2 tbs olive oil
    1 med. onion
    3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbs. chopped fresh thyme or 2 tsp dry
1 tbs chopped fresh sage or 2 tsp dried
    2 tbs nutritional yeast
    3 tbs tamari/soy (divided)
    2 tbs balsamic
    2 cups toasted walnuts
    1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper

These are the basic instructions. Toast the walnuts separately. Saute onions and garlic for about five minutes (until onions are transparent), then add mushrooms. Cover for 5 minutes and then uncover for 10 min. Add thyme, sage, nutritional yeast, 2 tbs. tamari, and vinegar and stir to combine. Cook for another minute or so and then place this mixture along with the walnuts into a food processor. Process until creamy. Add the additional tamari if necessary (I didn't need to this time).

*Really* hate that I missed this event; I had to work today. :-( How was it? Anyone? Kate, how are you doing?

It was good. I'm doing alright. Thanks for asking. Too bad you couldn't make it out – hope to see you next time.

Hi guys! It was great to see everyone at the meet up today. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to everyone, but I sure did enjoy the fellowship and great food!

I would love to be there. . But every Saturday, for years, I have been gathering food from The W. Nashville Farmers Mrket, and a few other places, and distributing them to a place that feeds the homeless, then taking some bags of food around to shut ins. Tomorrow is my last day for the season. I can't even collect the stuff until they close down, at noon. Then they give me what is left. I could possibly make it over. But I would be later then 12:30. And wouldn't have time to make something to bring. It would be nice to come. I do lots of volunteer work, and always seem to have something going on when there is a meetup. :>(

So far the menu for the Thanksgiving Potluck includes:

    Something Yummy
    Possible side or main
Walnut/mushroom dip, and bread or crackers to go with it
    Mexican layered dip
    Vegan mac & "cheese"
A large salad w/ fresh greens, carrots, escarole, and more... plenty of dressing choices.
    Vegan pumpkin pie
    Rhubarb/Blueberry Crisp
    Pecan cranberry bread
    Cranberry sauce

Love the mystery of what appears on the table at a potluck!

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you on Saturday! Trying to decide what to bring...does anyone know what types of dishes are still needed?

Never mind. I don't have a venue for Sat night so I guess I have to abandon my own event. This is such a bummer.

Hello all - Unfortunately I have work trip to Atlanta and I won't be back in time for the potluck on Saturday at 12:30. We have a couple options: A) someone else can offer to be the organizer, which entails picking up the keys for the community center, making sure it is cleaned up before you leave, and then returning the keys. B) we can move it to Saturday evening, but we need a different venue. The community center is not available. Thoughts?

The site requires 3 RSVPs before a new Meetup is posted. This looks great! Thanks for posting.

I don't understand this new Meetup format where the event goes into "suggested." This meetup is definitely on. I have already posted it to the Nashville Vegans Facebook page as well.
