A Tom Sawyer Painting Party!
9:00 AM - 12 Noon

Give back to our friends at Metro Greenways by helping stain fences at the new Cumberland River Pedestrian Bridge! This newly opened bridge connects the Shelby Bottoms and the Two Rivers Greenways and is quite the architectural jewel.

We'll be staining the split rail fence that has been installed on the mound on the Shelby Bottoms side and on each side of the portal on the Two Rivers side.

Kids 12 and up with parent or guardian welcomed!

Exit Briley Parkway at Two Rivers Parkway and park in the Wave Country/Two Rivers Park/skate park lot. Walk the paved trail under Briley Parkway and meet at the foot of the pedestrian bridge. Another option, if you enter from Shelby Bottoms Greenway on the East Nashville side, is to walk or bike the two miles from that side on the greenway. Either way, meet on the Briley Parkway/Two Rivers side of the bridge.

Wear clothes you're not afraid to get paint on. Bring water, sunscreen, and a new or used, 2.5 to 3 inch paintbrush.

Each volunteer will get Greenways for Nashville swag!

Call Kelly at [masked] if you need anything (related to this event).

If there's a threat of rain, please check back on this page for delays or cancellation.

WAITING LIST: If you want to be added to the waiting list for this meetup, RSVP "No" and add a comment that you'd like to be added if a slot opens up.

We should all go to the pool this afternoon to show off our spray-on tans and our cool new brown-freckeled shirts. It'll be the new craze! Who would have thought that working on Saturday could be so much fun? I had a great time!

I am probably going to hike in from the Shelby Bottoms greenway trailhead in East Nashville. If anyone wants to join me send a message. I will check my email in the AM. Sorry for the short notice.

Is anyone bringing extra paintbrushes?... I'd prefer not to go out and buy paint brushes just for this...

The easiest access to this bridge is from The Wave Pool parking lot. I use this bridge quite a bit when I bike ride, so sure I want to do my part to help keep it up.

It was a good time for a good cause and the fence looked great when we got done! It was great to see so many people helping out and we knocked it out in no time! I use the greenways often and am glad to be able to contribute back.
    •  This was a fun project and one I'd definitely participate again in the future. I enjoyed seeing the bridge for the first time!
    •  What a team! And what a great way to give back. Kudos to those of you who made this service project your first meetup. Hope to see you on the trails in the future.
    •  The clouds held out till we finished, which turned out to be a blessing. The fence looks great!

A great opportunity to give back to Greenways! We had a fun time. Next time I'll try not to spill three gallons of ice water on the Pedestrian Bridge. We really have a special group even if I get mocked mercilessly! Thanks everyone!
    •  I use the Greenways a lot so it felt good to give something back. Thanks to Kelly for getting this together!!!
    •  That was fun, thanks for the opportunity to lend a hand!
