I've closed RSVPs here but if you have any last minute questions, email me at [masked].
First things first... What is this race? The Oyster is the coolest race ever. It is billed as the "Ultimate Urban Adventure Race" for its uncanny ability to provide pure athleticism with thought-provoking strategy. The rules are kept a secret until the start of the race! All you know is that the 3- or 6-person team will run-bike-scoot/ skate-trek-climb-paddle (and other crazy stuff) their away around Music City doing amazing things and performing some creative stunts. The best way I can describe this is like TV's "Amazing Race" but with more athleticism.
Nashville Hiking Meetup will be the volunteer crew during race day! Jobs include registration, official judges, team check-in, traffic flow, and manpower. Read more in the FAQs below.
Proceeds from the race will go to Greenways for Nashville so this is a great way to help out a community partner and have fun with your meetup buddies at the same time!
RSVP "yes" if you'd like to volunteer for race day and then click here to fill out a form so we can collect more information. All Nashville Oysterteers will receive a T-shirt, food, and beverages. Volunteers are encouraged to bring sunscreen, lawn chairs, and water bottles.
If you're interested in competing instead of Oysterteering, Team Green is putting together teams. Click here for more information: http://teamgreenonlin.... Or you can form your own team!

FAQs
Who can be an Oysterteer?
Anyone who's interested. All participants must sign release forms. Children under the age of 18 must have signed consent form and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
What can I do as an Oysterteer?
Racer/Oysterteer Registration: Receive Racers, Crew, and/or Oysterteers, provide waivers for all to sign, collect and track completion of all mandatory forms, collect pledges, give out Oyster swag.
Race Day Check Point Data Collection: Receive Passport times by radio from Oysterteers stationed at various check points. Assist leader board coordinators with up-to-the-minute availability of team rankings.
Check Point Oysterteer: Enjoy the excitement of manning a Check Point with others along the race course … record times on paper as the Racers pass through, then radio the times in so they can be updated on the leader-board. Cheer teams on as they push through the course.
Hospitality: Receive Oysterteers before and after their shifts … restock refreshments, provide information, updates, etc.
Oysterteer Driver: Drive a van for a shift … must know the city well, or be proficient with maps. Pick-up and drop-off Oysterteers at their Check Points. Coordinate pick-up and drop-off times. Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Post-Race Wrap-Up: Assist with wrapping up the details after the race ends, and in the weeks following.
Some Oysterteers choose to contribute their time to pre-race organization only. Others are only available for one shift on Race Day, or for post-race wrap-up. Still others act as floaters, and work several shifts during the race. Some do it all! Whatever you can do, we value your time and commitment.
“ Had a great time meeting new people in the group and what a awesome race. We should get a team together for next year (it will take an entire year to train for it ;-)) ”
“ We had a good time, and I especially liked that we had an orientation time a few days prior to the event... it made spending time together Saturday even better. ”
“ Wow, how cool was that. My first event with the group and I got to start off with a bang. Not to mention the 5:30AM call time it was worth every minute. I got to help with load in and set up for today's event. I had an excellent time, great supervision and direction, everybody got to participate and be involved. GREAT TIME, THANKS, ”
“ Wow that was fun. I learned what the heck an Oyster Race was and the people that came to town to put on this event were very cool. I'm so glad it was a fund raiser for the Nashville Greenways. I am truly amazed at the work Kelly Stewart put into the entire event. We all make a great team. Thanks man! ”
