Do not request guests on this hike yet. Usually, but not always, very popular events do not allow guests so that as many real members can get on board as possible. However, when it comes down to the day of, there are almost always a couple of spots free for guests. If your guest can deal with a last minute add, I would say keep in contact with the trip leader and ask up through the day before if guests will be allowed. You can almost count on your guest getting in the way things go. The absolute ideal thing would be for you to have your friend sign up for the meetup themselves and add themselves to the event.
Please take note because many people do not read the details of an event and are surprised the day of:
- We have five legs of driving on Saturday with a total of about 185 miles. - These are not strenuous hikes, so if you are looking for a workout, this day is not yours. - Arrive at the carpool spot at 7:15 a.m. with a full tank of gas (if you plan on driving), a full belly, and an empty bladder. - Please decide ahead of time if you plan on doing dinner with the group in case I need to change our reservation numbers at Miller's Grocery. - Bring gas money for your carpool driver.
We have a very healthy wait list for this event so if you can't make it, be courteous to other members and change your RSVP as soon as possible.
Let me know if you have any questions. This will be a fun day and it looks like beautiful weather!
Elaine, we get just as many requests for events to be posted during the day. There is not an exact schedule on when events get posted except we try not to send out too many emails in one 24 hour period. As Allison said, get on the wait list and hang in there. It is very, very rare that the entire wait list doesn't cycle through.
Nashville Hiking Meetup is an outdoor adventure and eco-volunteer club that plans hiking, backpacking, camping, paddling, and biking events throughout the year ranging from easy to strenuous, local to regional. The aim of the group is to explore the natural beauty of Tennessee and beyond and to develop a social network for people with like interests.
In addition to our regular hikes and other outdoor adventures, we also plan social events and organize community volunteer projects such as park cleanup and trail building!
