Frist Museum – 1:00 #1 - Docent tour of Rembrandt & Dutch Golden Age exhibit

Join the Nashville Hiking Meetup for a tour of the current exhibit, Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age: Highlights from the Detroit Institute of Arts, by a Frist Center docent.

From the exhibit description: “In the seventeenth century, the Dutch Republic enjoyed unprecedented wealth and prosperity and the period is known as the Dutch Golden Age. Painting and the decorative arts flourished in this small, predominantly Protestant nation in northwest Europe, which gained independence from the Catholic Kingdom of Spain in 1648 after nearly a century of intermittent war.”

This collection is on loan from the Detroit Institute of Arts and highlights the greatest Dutch masterpieces by artists such as Frans Hals, Jacob van Ruisdael, Jan Steen, Gerard Ter Borch, and the incomparable Rembrandt van Rijn.

Frist admission is $10 per person (free with Frist membership).  Please arrive no later than 12:45 to buy your ticket, then meet up in front of the gift shop. The tour will start promptly at 1:00 p.m.

Please be courteous to other members and do not hold a spot if you are not absolutely sure you will attend.

For directions, membership and/or ticketing information please go to: http://fristcenter.org/visit/tickets.

So happy that this meetup was planned. It gave me the impetus to come to the exhibit (which I planned to do anyway, but sometimes I don't get around to it). I stayed after the tour and did the audio tour which was excellent and then did the Americas tour upstairs which was excellent, also--I then did the interactive exhibits....so I was at the museum until 5...it was great!

I would have never guessed that Elizabeth (JTB'ss Mom) was also immaculata (as recounted in Rembrandt's "visitation") Great treatment of light.

Get a note saying I was on the 3 o'clock tour, then the next day it said I was not attending. Would love to go if a spot is open for any Sat. tour times. Thanks!

Beth, you're already confirmed for the 2:00 tour #1, that's why your RSVP was changed to "Not Attending" on the others. Please change your other RSVP's to give others the chance to attend if the spots open up.

Strange,I think several of us were updated we where on the second 1pm, but I don't see myself there?

      February 17, 2013

    • Kurt Andress

Vikki - you also are on the waiting list for the 1:00 tour #1, and for the 2:00 tour. Please choose one tour and change your RSVP to Not Attending on the other.

I've been confirmed for tour #2 but cannot find a way to remove myself from the wait list for tour #1. I've now gotten an email saying that I'm not attending. How do I remove myself from the first wait list?

    February 14, 2013

    • Kurt Andress

You are confirmed as attending the 1:00 #2 tour and no longer on the waiting list for #1. That was the email that you received.

Note to everyone - PLEASE... only sign up for one tour. If you are confirmed for a time slot to attend on any of the tours and you're still signed up on the waiting list of another tour, your Waiting List RSVP will be changed to Not Attending. It is not fair to other members who want to be able to participate to miss out on the opportunity because someone has signed up on multiple tours.

I just received an email stating I was not going on this tour,,, I have not changed my RSVP status. Is there an issue with this event?

    February 13, 2013

    • Kurt Andress

Hi Joni - I removed your RSVP from the waiting list for the 2:00 event since you're now confirmed for the 1:00 slot.

      February 13, 2013

    • Kelly Stewart

Joni, looks like you're still in this event. Please forward the email you received to [masked] and I'll look into any issues.
