Radnor Lake - Moderate Hike - 4/29

HIKE STATS:
Meeting Place: Trailhead at Granny White Pike/Nature Center entrance
Hike Distance: up to 4.5 miles depending on what group wants to do
Estimated Hike Time: max 2 hours
Difficulty: Moderate

Optional dinner after wherever the group decides!

We'll start at the Granny White Pike entrance parking lot, and depending on what the group feels like, we can do a mixture of the trails. Kids are certainly welcome, but pets are not allowed on the trails.

Note that on good weather days Radnor parking can get crowded. Please observe all traffic flow and parking rules posted.

Some instructions:

1. DO NOT enter Radnor Lake from the Franklin Road side. You must enter from Granny White Pike/Otter Creek Road because the road is blocked to vehicle traffic through the park. On maps Otter Creek Road looks like a through street for cars but it is not.

2. There is only one parking lot on the Granny White end so it won't be hard to find us. We'll be the crowd of people standing around.

3. There is not a sign for Radnor Lake on Granny White Pike. Look on the map for where Otter Creek Road intersects Granny White Pike and turn there.

fyi - I won't be doing granier ridge - few more weeks of knee rehab before I tackle it again. But I will be on the perimeter trail if others want to join in - welcome!

Linda, we will stop as a group at the trail intersections and see who wants to do Gainer Ridge, and who may want to stay on the Lake trail.

Will this hike be shorter than 4 miles?

    April 28, 2013

    • Alisa

Marilyn, the full hike is 4.9 miles...and there are different trail options to shorten it if you wish.

I appreciate your post, Charles, but not sure the relevance to this event and hiking club.

Looks like Alisa has a great group signed up! Another reminder to first-timers: DO NOT enter Radnor Lake from the Franklin Road side. You must enter from Granny White Pike/Otter Creek Road. I've changed the address to *1158* Ottter Creek Road because the Google Map for 1160 shows the other side of the lake. Bad Google, bad!
