Meeting Time: 7:00 PM
Meeting Place: Area 2/Couchville Lake bulletin board
Hike Distance: 2 miles
Estimated Hike Time: 2 hours
Hike Leader: Jason
Join us for a relaxing two-mile stroll around the Couchville Lake Trail and discover what creatures are stirring after hours. This will be a rare opportunity to hike one of Tennessee State Parks' most popular trails at night. We'll be listening/looking for owls, bats, spiders, frogs, whippoorwills, katydids, herons & more. At the beginning of the hike, we'll hopefully get a chance to enjoy a beautiful sunset over Couchville Lake -- so be sure and bring your camera. And don't forget your insect repellent.
This trail is flat and paved and rated easy. This will not be a fast-paced hike; we'll be stopping occasionally for nature interpretation, photo opportunities, and etc. Feel free to ask questions about anything you see or hear during the hike.
Pets are not allowed in this area of the park. Kids are welcome.
Directions to Area 2/Couchville Lake parking lot:
Enter Long Hunter State Park at the main park entrance (2910 Hobson Pike) and then take the first left (which is Area 2) and proceed to the parking lot beside Couchville Lake.
