If you are new to hiking or are getting into it again after a stretch of illness, injury or inactivity, here is the easiest "hike" possible at 6:45 pm for anyone who enjoys walking with a group. Red Caboose Park. also known as Bellevue Park, has a circular paved exercise path that is mostly flat, and five laps make a mile. Come bring your leashed dog or leave Fido at home and come on your own to walk the exercise path at your own pace.

We will meet at the caboose which sits next to the Bellevue Community Center and Library at 6:45 pm to start walking. Feel free to come a few minutes early to meet other walkers before the hike starts. Walk at your own pace, do 1/2 mile, 1 mile, 2 miles or more, and finish whenever you want.

This is a kid-friendly walk and there is a playground at the park, but no bikes, skates or skateboards are allowed on the exercise path.

Leashed dogs are welcome. Please bring a bag and pick up after your pooch since there is a playground on site. There are trash cans at 3 or 4 spots around the park so you won't have to carry your bag far.

Walkers will enjoy looking at the historic log cabin and the caboose as they make each lap. Find out more about Red Caboose Park here:

It was a balmy 86º when 3 of us gathered to walk around Bellevue's Red Caboose Park. A nice breeze was blowing. I will stop doing these beginner hikes and add Monday nights to my work schedule if more people don't start showing up at hike time.

I know it hit 93º today, but it's dropping to 67º tonight, and the temps will be cooler in an hour when we meet. It should be a nice night for a walk!

Sounds good! Lots of safe parking here and a nice sunset if clouds cooperate. Easy location to find too. Folks can come late and join in.
