  • Mike G.

Wow, I didn't think I would make it off the waitng list. New to the group and really sorry to miss out but made other plans for the weekend. I'll know to hold tight next time. I know everyone will have a great time on a great day.

    November 15, 2013

    • Kenneth

You might want to update your status to "not going" so the next person in wait list could move into the GO list

      1 · November 15, 2013

    • Jeff A.

Yes, please change your status to not going.

Just one more time for the record . . . please bring WATER and snacks or lunch! The weather forecast is 66 for the high and partly cloudy! We should have an absolutely FANTASTIC HIKE! Also, please be on time for the meet up location. This is a long drive for a day hike and a long hike to boot! We have to get there and get on the trail at a decent hour. DEPARTURE TIME WILL BE AROUND 7:15 a.m.

    November 15, 2013

  • Lisa Presley ".

For those of you still on the waiting list, I would still check the event in the morning. A lot of people have to cancel last minute!

If I'm on the wait list, does that mean I can't go?

    November 13, 2013

    • Dave S.

It's nothing personal Rachel. The leaders have the responsibility of the group and the more people there are, the more difficult it is to keep everyone together or on track (or trail). It's like, would you like to be one of two people responsible for taking care of 30 first graders at Disney World? This is something like that but with Yeti!!!

      1 · November 14, 2013

    • Lisa Presley ".

Very good analogy David! I have felt like I'm herding 30 first graders through Disney before! Well said!

      1 · November 15, 2013

  • Rosanna

Are dogs allowed on this hike,Lisa?

    1 · November 15, 2013

    • Lisa Presley ".

Yes, as long as they are physically able to do the hike and stay on leash. (I had a wiener dog on the Piney hike one time....it was exasperating!)

      November 15, 2013

  • Rosanna

    Woohooo! Back on board!

    November 15, 2013

  • Giselle

    Is this Fiery Gizzard "strenuous"

    November 13, 2013

  • Mark D.

I have hiked this recently. I do not understand the strenuous rating. It is the easiest section of the Cumberland Trail (except maybe Piney River) south of I-40. I'd rate it moderate only for the distance.

    1 · November 13, 2013

    • Kenneth

Why don't you lead a group of 30 unknown strangers and find out for yourself?

      1 · November 14, 2013

    • Lisa Presley ".

Mark, "MY" rating is simply because I have personally had to drag two people out of the woods on this trail. Better to be safe than sorry! You put moderate on a listing and you will get folks who simply cannot hike this distance OR do the rock-hopping.

      2 · November 14, 2013

  • Dave S.

Steve and Lisa, there is a group if us that are going to meet in M'boro, pick up another on Monteagle then meet the group on the trail. You want me to provide you with that list of people?

    November 13, 2013

    • Dave S.

      Here ya go Lisa:
      Giselle Romero +1
      Ken
      Chris McCormick +1
      Rebecca Searfoss
      Rich Jones
      Dave Schroeder +1
And it also sounds like Paul

      November 13, 2013

    • Lisa Presley ".

Thanks, David! See you at the trailhead!

      November 14, 2013

  • Mark D.

Pot Point Loop is far more scenic than Mullens Cove Loop. I'm a Cumberland Trail fanatic, so I hike all of it at least once, but honestly on return trips, I'm choosing Pot Point Loop every time. At least make sure you check out the view at Snoopers Rock - it is only 1/4th of a mile from the trailhead :)

    November 13, 2013

    • Giselle

I look forward to whatever Lisa & Steve have planned. I appreciate their efforts. See you on the trails!

      1 · November 14, 2013

It's the trail they chose. You could lead another group to do the trail of your preference
