Date: Saturday, October 12
Time: 11am to 2pm
Location: 7th Avenue & Monroe Street
Distance: Roughly one mile of steady walking plus more walking as we shop and find places to eat
We will meet in front of Monroe St. United Methodist Church at the corner across the street from the Catholic Church. The arrow points to the street between the two churches where we will meet. The Methodist church usually has a bake sale tent on this corner, so we will meet in that area.
We will join thousands of others for a German festival that’s fun for the entire family for the 34th Annual Oktoberfest in the Germantown area of Nashville on October 12th.
Oktoberfest will have authentic German food, live German music, a beer tent, craft vendors and more. It’s a FREE event with free parking available.
We will get our hike in by walking around the festival area once, covering several blocks (roughly a mile) hopefully at a steady pace although we may get stopped by the crowds more than once, before starting back at the beginning to shop and eat. You are welcome to come early and stay late if you are not carpooling.
Lederhosen are optional but I am thinking about making Bavarian Hiking Hats mandatory! (Not really but I will be wearing one!)
Nashville Hiking Meetup is an outdoor adventure and eco-volunteer club that plans hiking, backpacking, camping, paddling, and biking events throughout the year ranging from easy to strenuous, local to regional. The aim of the group is to explore the natural beauty of Tennessee and beyond and to develop a social network for people with like interests.
In addition to our regular hikes and other outdoor adventures, we also plan social events and organize community volunteer projects such as park cleanup and trail building!
