From the Fall Creek Falls website:

A paradise of more than 20,000 acres sprawled across the eastern top of the rugged Cumberland Plateau, Fall Creek Falls State Park is one of the most scenic and spectacular outdoor recreation areas in America. Laced with cascades, gorges, waterfalls, streams, and lush stands of virgin hardwood timber, the park beckons those who enjoy nature at her finest. While Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet, is the highest waterfall in the eastern United States, other waterfalls in the park are Piney and Cane Creek Falls and Cane Creek Cascades. There are over 34 miles of hiking trails around the park. Hikers can opt for short or long walks around the lake and to and from the base of Fall Creek Falls. There are two long distance overnight trails for the more adventuresome. The day-use trails are designed to accommodate recreational and educational activities including fitness walking, leisure walking and easy hiking, or exploring the Parks' geological features and forest life typical of the Cumberland Plateau.

Cane Creek and Rock House Falls - at the bottom of the Cable Trail

    We plan to hike the

    Paw Paw Trail (4.6 miles)

with the Cable Trail coming back (.25 miles), and then the

Woodland / Fall Creek Falls Trail

( 1.2 miles). The Paw Paw and the Woodland Trails are rated EASY and the trail going to the base of Fall Creek Falls is rated Moderate. The cable trail is very short but Difficult. You do NOT have to do the difficult trails if you go on this hike as they are offshoots from the main trails, but you will miss out on some breathtaking scenery.

We will be starting the hike from the Nature Center.

There is also the Cane Creek Rapids at the Nature Center, so it can be a great place to cool down after the hikes are completed, so bring a change of clothes if you want to go for a swim. Not required, but the option is there. Google shows a 2 hour drive from the Hermitage Kroger meetup location. We should arrive at the Nature Center around 9:30 AM.
