Hiking with the Stars - Beaman Park w/ Ian Reitz of WSMV 'Channel 4 News Today'

Join celebrity hosts as we discover the outdoors!

Nashville Hiking Meetup and Hiking with the Stars welcome Ian Reitz, co-anchor of WSMV's 'Channel 4 News Today' weekday mornings from 4 to 7 a.m. If the weather cooperates, Ian spends most weekends outside. He loves to hike and his top picks in Middle Tennessee include Percy and Edwin Warner Parks.

To thank Ian, please bring a cash donation to the Friends of Beaman Park which can be dropped off in the donation box at the Nature Center.

Meeting Time:
8:00 a.m.
Meeting Place: Beaman Park Nature Center
Hike Distance: 6.6 total miles
Estimated Hike Time: 3 hours
Difficulty: Moderate
Notes: Dogs on a leash welcomed

We will start promptly at 8:00 a.m., meeting in front of the Nature Center and trailhead located on Old Hickory Blvd between Clarksville Hwy and Ashland City Hwy.

We will head down the Sedge Hill Trail, across the creek to the Henry Hollow Loop headed north along the Creekside Trail, then continue uphill to the Ridgetop Trail which is 2.1 miles there and 2.1 miles back. Returning to the short side of Henry Hollow Loop, we'll cross the creek again and head uphill to the Nature Center for a total of 6.6 miles.

These trails are rated moderate and the hike should be easily completed in less than 3 hours. Looking to make a brisk pace on this hike.

Leashed dogs welcomed.

Wear appropriate footwear, bring a snack, and plenty of water.

Directions (a.k.a. your GPS will lie to you): If this is your first time to Beaman, it's better to map the Lewis Country Store at 5106 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville, TN 37218 (corner of Old Hickory Blvd. and Ashland City Hwy - Hwy 12). From there, head north on Old Hickory (sort of behind the store), wave out the window to Sulphur Creek Farm on your right as you pass, and after traveling about 4 miles you'll see the entrance to the Nature Center on your left.

Wonderful morning for hiking. Beaman Park is a great place to hike. Thanks so much Kelly for organizing this hike. Enjoyed listening to our expert, Tom Salter who was so knowledgeable about all the flowers and trees along the trail. Really nice to meet Ian Reitz. Great group!!!

Wish I could do this one but I have a golf tournament that same day. I've been wanting to go to Beaman especially since I live in Pleasant View.

This hike was really great. Well organized with four knowledgeable leaders on board, each of whom shared different things about the hike and the trail. The people on the hike were all interesting. Thanks to those of you with whom I talked. The day was simply great.
