Group Volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee’s mission is to feed hungry people and solve hunger issues in our community. This is not possible without the help of countless volunteers that work each year who help get food ready to go out to the community.
Second Harvest needs volunteers to help sort donated food for Middle Tennessee families who need a hand! Volunteers sort non-perishable and perishable food into categories for distribution to not-for-profit agencies in Middle Tennessee. Food sorting is done at Second Harvest Food Bank’s Martin Distribution Center in Nashville in our warehouse. With your help, we are fighting hunger and feeding hope in our community.
Wear closed-toed shoes and clothes appropriate for a warehouse (jeans or comfortable clothing). If you can help out with the perishables sort, please bring warm clothes and gloves as you will be working in the cooler. We'll be bending, stooping and possibly lifting up to 35 pounds. (Not required. If you have trouble lifting just let the supervisor know.)
Kids 12 and up allowed, one adult per kid.
Waiver and emergency contact forms will need to be signed by each person who has not volunteered at Second Harvest within the last year. Those forms will be available at Second Harvest when you arrive.

Volunteer parking is at the front part of the lot, closest to the front doors of the building. When you arrive, please sign in and we'll get everyone set with job assignments.

Hi..I'm signed up to come and help...I also signed up my boyfriend and daughter....I saw that you wrote children 12 and up, but she is 5. and I think this would be a good experience for her..I've done a lot of volunteer work, but this is my bf's and her first time....We are going to be on our way to FL, so I will need to bring her...She is an awesome helper, so I think she'll be fine...We will only be able to stay for about an hour/hour and a half...Please let me know if I need to change my RSVP or not based on her age...Thanks!
