Been back to Nashville a little over a year now. Like being outside. Paddle in warm weather, hike and bike when it gets cold. Would like to be a part of the Nashville Hiking.

Really nice meeting you on the paddle today! Comforting to know I'm not the only "seasoned" paddler in the group (-; ! Hope to see you again on the water soon!
Don't know if you saw the posting I made in response to your looking for a used kayak. I used www.paddleswap.
com to search through all the craigslist posting in this area. I ended up finding one in Nashville. (I thought I was going to go to B'ham to get one but it fell through then I found the one here.)
The one I bought is called the Perception Swifty 9.5, but I asked for one that is good for both flat water and up to Class III Whitewater because I really want to get into whitewater too. I'm also 6 foot 2 and this fits me very well. You need to decide what kind of paddling you're interested in and then go see them at Dick's Sporting Goods to see what they recommend. Also, you can ask them when their next sale is.
The one I bought has adjustable footpegs and the seat lies back against the frame. I am into kayaking because canoeing made my back hurt. So I will be learning about how my back does with this boat. But I think it's possible to change out the seat or somehow use added back support if needed. Like I say, I'll be learning about that.
Welcome!
Becky,
If you'd like to car pool, I live in Hermitage right off Central Pike. I know where 12th Ave N is since I drive downtown for my second job. :-)
If you're interested, call me [masked]
