Nashville Hiking Meetup Message Board › Cherokee Trail of Tears Hike by Native History Association 12/15/12
For those of you who missed our October tour of the recently discovered Cherokee Trail of Tears segment at Old Jefferson in Rutherford County, the Native History Association will conduct another public tour of the site on Saturday, December 15th at 10.00 A.M. We're very happy to announce as well that our dear friend and local historian, Mr. Toby Francis will once again be our guest speaker. The tour is free and age appropriate for children age 6 and older. We will meet at the Army Corps. of Engineers / East Fork Recreation Area parking lot and after a brief introduction, hike to the trail segment. The tour will take approx. 3 hours and is almost 3 miles from beginning to end. Please wear boots or other shoes appropriate for hiking and be sure to bring your camera's! Now that the leaves have fallen there will be lots to see.
