Protest Frog Slaughter

The DeKalb County Young Farmers and Ranchers Club has decided to host an abominable event called "Giggin' for Grads" ( where people compete to see how many frogs they can kill for money. Obviously this is an outrage, and we should not stand for it. If this event takes place, we should come out in force to show our disapproval.

Hopefully we can get event cancelled altogether by speaking out! Here's how you can help:

There is nothing wrong with frog gigging. If done properly, the frog dies a very quick death. Much quicker than being run over by a car. I have eaten frog meat, and this is how it is harvested.

Read the insulting remarks people are leaving on the Young Farmers and Rancers site. It is appalling that people directed to this site cannot conduct themselves more respectfully and have to demean and disparage others with bigoted remarks in order to make a point. I do not hunt, but cannot condemn.....certainly in the manner that is being done by many leaving comments on that site........those that hunt in a humane manner. I love nature, and death is a part of life in nature. A frog in my small pond in my back yard ate three of my fish, and I did not hold it against him. He has to eat. I would not kill him for it, but cannot condemn others who hunt with respect for the life they take. That is my opinion.

Well I sincerely doubt that any of the people from our group have left rude comments for the Young Farmers and Ranchers, and I certainly have not. Condemning those of us who think it is wrong based on the words and actions of others who believe the same way is unfair. It is rude and counterproductive to harass these young people, I agree, but for the young people to harass and kill these animals is also wrong, and there we will have to disagree.
