Lets support the 10-4-2013 worldwide march to save elephants!

  • October 4, 2013 · 7:00 PM

On October 4, 2013, there will be world-wide marches against the ivory trade and to protect elephants. Does anyone have any ideas how we can support this global march here in Nashville?

It did not appear that many people signed the petition. Maybe they did and did not report it.

I agree with you that we we need a place to meet as asap. Then the question is, are we marching, or protesting. A permit might be required if there is a march. These are things to ask PETA. They are so successful, I am sure they can help let us know about good venues-Once we have a location, I can send out e-mails to all the Nashville Animal groups. I will help in any way I can.

Tricia, are any of your vegetarian friends members of Nashville Animal Advocates? We need one more supporter to even get the protest on the docket. This is such an important cause. At the very least, members who are unable to march could sign the anti-poaching on line at www.iworry.org

Oh, as co-organizer I can announce the meetup at any time. I just did! But we need to figure out details asap. I'll work on this afternoon after class, but if you want to help figure out some logistics that would be very helpful! We should probably have at least 20 people if we want to really march. I know I can count on 3 (myself, my boyfriend, and my best friend), but we should work on garnering more support, which will be easier with more details.

I think we should organize a march in Nashville too! Would you mind making a facebook event about it? Also we could ask PETA to help us if you'd like, though I don't know what your stance on that is... (my personal stance is the more involvment we have, the better, and PETA helps us get people involved). We would have to do it in the evening so more people could attend, and we'd have to look into the legality of doing something like that, as well as where to march, etc. But I definitely think we should work on it! I just started school and am a bit busy, but I will do as much as I can! I can also get my vegetarian club at Vanderbilt involved, which will likely get us into the school newspaper, and probably even on the local news (since the frog-gigging even got on there and there were only four of us...)

At the very least-sign the anti-ivory petition www.iworry.org-An elephant is killed every 15 minutes for its ivory!
