MTPRC's 5th Annual HayDay

  • Dec 7, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • TBA

Volunteer with MTPRC's 5th Annual “HayDay” on Saturday December 7th from 10am -2pm in Nashville!

Volunteers will go out in small groups with a Team Lead and deliver free supplies to neglected chained and penned dogs. The aim is to make the dogs more comfortable in the cold weather by creating some warmth. Dress in clothes that you don't mind getting messy: rain boots are a good choice, warm clothes, hats and gloves.

If you cannot attend, please consider donating! They REALLY need bales of Hay/Straw, which you can find at Ace Hardware, Home Depot and Lowes. Other items are included on their Amazon Wish List, and anyone who donates $40 or more from the wish list will receive a $10 gift card from The Wild Cow Vegetarian Restaurant!!! Just email [masked] with your name & address and shipment details.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/24DMVU0TXUGZN/ref=cm_sw_su_w

MTPRC will send out an email the week before with the exact meet up address and full details. If you know a dog in need (or see one that looks like s/he could use some hay) please let MTPRC know by emailing [masked] and providing as much information as possible.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send an email at [masked].

I hope to see everyone there!

Good to meet the people I ran in to! Thanks everyone!

Thanks everyone for coming, and I really hope you all enjoyed meeting other animal lovers in the greater Nashville area! Sorry I wasn't able to say hi to everyone personally (I did see Lauren, Aram, and Lisa), but with the chaos and number of people outside of our group, I wasn't able to find everyone! Still, I had a great time helping the dogs and met a lot of other fun animal lovers who will hopefully join our group soon! Let me know what you guys thought about today's volunteering experience, though I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did! Thanks so much for your concern for these dogs! I think we can all see we made a difference today in many of their lives. = )

Sorry I didn't get to meet you, Tricia. It was a wonderful day and feels good to know some doggies in Nashville will sleep a little better tonight. Looking forward to a future event!

No problem, I'm sorry I didn't specify what I would be wearing or posted my number so you could find me and say hi! But I'm so glad you made it and enjoyed the event!

With the incoming weather, I do think animals need this more than ever. However, I am hearing wicked stories of ice, etc. Just want to leave my number in case this is cancelled, because my internet was not working this morning. I can be reached at (615) 519-5550. I know it isn't a good idea to leave phone numbers, but that is the only way anyone could reach me if internet was down again. Thanks!

Has everyone gotten the email with the details? If not, I can forward the information to you all, but you should have gotten the email by now. Please let me know asap!

    Thanks,
    Tricia

Probably, that is the main thing to give out. I think there will be plenty of toys/treats/bowls. The things that people really end up needing are flea/tick meds, hay, dog jackets, and individuals willing to check up regularly (bi-weekly/monthly/whatever) on dogs who are really really in need!

It's a lot to do with animal legislation. A dog can really be chained its whole life in Davidson Co as long as it has access to shelter, food, and water. And it's sad...the animal control cases are way way worse than the dogs we help, I'm sure :( Hay Day was really educational for me in these areas, hopefully it will be for all the new-comes as well :)

    Hi there,
Still awaiting notification of the location and also if we need to bring hay, etc. with us. Thanks. Looking forward to it.

Glad you got it! And yes, it will be bad,…but helping all the wonderful animals will give you a warm feeling ;)

I've sent messages and also left a voicemail to someone named Tam. I have yet to receive the location where we are to meet or if we need to bring anything. If anyone knows where this is taking place please let me know. [masked] Thanks:)

Is there a location for this event yet? Do we need to bring items with us or just show up?

    December 1, 2013

    • Tricia

You are welcome to just show up, but if you do have items you'd like to bring, please let MTPRC know by emailing [masked]. Make sure you tell them you're with our group so they don't count you twice, please! Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you Saturday!

    Hi friends,

To get the location for the event, the organizers would like to send each of you an email with the relevant information (last year we met at someone's private residence, which I assume is the reason the location is not public information). If all 12 of you would please either leave a comment with your email address or send me a private message if you'd rather not post your email in public, I would appreciate it. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Okay...so I ordered a bunch of stuff on amazon...including a dog house...hope it gets there ok. Also...I made a bunch of posters and hung them arount lipscomb...I hope the [masked] is a good email as I suspect the students will be emailing it. ALSO... is anyone interested in an anti tethering law for Davidson county?? There are many places in the US that prohibit the chaining of animals...maybe we can get something started around here.

Bonnie- I'm interested in helping with any education programs you do and anything dealing with spay/neuter. I used to take my dog (and sometimes horse) to schools and educate children on the importance of treating animals kindly and spay/neuter. If there is anything like that in this area if love to do it again or help.

      November 18, 2013

    • Lauren

Hey Bonnie!! Tam with Middle TN Pet Resource Center can give you more info about chaining legislation and ALSO if you are interested in that get involved with the Nashville Chapter of Dogs Deserve Better!

Where I am from it's unheard of for a dog to be chained or for a dog to live outside. When I moved to TN I could not believe what I was seeing. People here have a very different view of animals (which makes laws harder to change). Maybe we can bring info about spay/neuter with us? I can transport animals to get fixed if owners would allow. The last thing we need are more puppies!

You should email [masked] and let them know you have purchased it, and they'll tell you what to do with it. = )
