This month's Meetup has been announced! I'm excited to be in the middle of beautiful Centennial Park for May's Meetup! RSVP here:
And please pay your dues if you can. The small $2/month will go a long way toward paying for these Meetups and our end of year film premiere! THANK YOU!
April Axis Meetup Recap
To all those scared of the rain, it was really a light rain and many of us were not sure what the fuss was about ... until the next day when we heard where the storm had taken lives. Our hearts go out to those families effected.
Other than the weather, we had a GREAT time. The food was excellent. We have some good cooks in the group (or spouses that are super supportive). The connections made are already working together on new projects. Amazing.
We talked about the new TV studio where we will be meeting in June and the HUGE opportunities available there. The ideas for TV shows were inspiring!
To Our Wonderful Women Leaders
Did you know you are rare in this industry and celebrated? I am proud of the fact that out of the six films we have in pre-production this year, four are led by women and three are minorities, all with unique and powerful perspectives. We are so proud of you. The world needs your stories!
For those of you serious about being a professional, you may want to consider this program:
Steve from our last Meetup had a request for help. He is a director and got permission to use a killer story but he is not a screenwriter. He has Hollywood talent ready to help him professionally critique the final script and get it produced, but he needs someone to help him get it out of his head and onto paper first. Please contact him if that's you.
Tom Delfino in Bellevue asked if anyone lives there that would be willing to carpool to Meetups. It's a great suggestion. If you are comfortable doing it, you can save gas, the environment, and meet a new filmmaker friend. Make sure your profile on Meetup says your city so when you RSVP, you can check who is going and contact them about carpooling.
Nashville Film Festival
Is it over already? This year's event looked like a blast and went by too fast. I was only able to grab one film this year, and it was ... you guessed it, a sci-fi short film.
For those that made it out, supported friends' films, or screened a film of your own, congrats! It's always good to celebrate all the hard work that goes into these films.
One of our members asked that we highlight their film, The Winding Stream, about the Carter and Cash family's impact on music. Check it out here:
Talk to you next week! Until then, most of the films are still in pre-production, so keep working at it! This is the most important step to ensure a smooth production.
Our goal is to finish at least one (hopefully all six!) short film this year, and in the process build a strong community, become better filmmakers, and have fun!
Thanks for making Nashville Filmmakers great!
