Kirsti Mann will talk to us on Wed, July 22, at Italian Kitchen. We will order food and drinks around 6:30 pm, and she will start talking around 7 pm. Kirsti Manna will discuss how she used Blog Talk Radio to produce a podcast with nothing more than a cell phone and a computer. Her podcast show, Songwriter Girl Radio Show, explores the creative muse and the craft of songwriting: http://www.blogtalkr adio.com/Songwriter- Girl If you have been on the fence about podcasting and want to know how to enter podcasting with little technical background, then Blog Talk Radio, a free program, might be the answer. More about Kirsti: Kirsti Manna's 5 week Billboard #1 smash hit, "Austin," introduced Blake Shelton to country radio. She is a Nashville-based songwriter/ publisher/ producer and an actress with numerous credits that include creating and starring in her own national children's TV show, "Kirsti's Manor," viewed by 34 million homes. She's also the co-writer/ co-publisher for Big & Richs rockin' hit, "Loud" (WB/Nashville). Artists such as Gretchen Wilson (Sony/Nashville), Colt Prather (Sony/Nashville), Cowboy Crush (Curb/Nashville) and many others have recorded Kirsti's songs. She is also the founder of Songwriter Girl, a place for women of all ages to share the art of songwriting as a virtual community and also at Songwriter Girl Camps held throughout the year. Kirsti's songs have been heard around the world in such places as CMT, ESPN, "The Tonight Show", "The David Letterman Show", "Friday Night Lights", and "Dance Wars." If we happen to have a guest speaker, great! If not, we have enough talent and ideas among us to share about podcasting. Come and meet others with an interest in podcasting. Several of our members are already hosting their own podcasts, so you can ask questions of them. “You will be the same person five years from now that you are today except for two things—the books you read and the people you meet.” --Charlie “Tremendous” Jones

It's time to get the ball rolling. We'll meet each other and come up with a few goals and even guests we want to invite to future meetups. We're meeting at Cafe Coco's Italian Market, which has free Wi-Fi and good Italian food (do you hear that, Tom Sabella!) Bring your laptops, so we can explore the web and podcasts. Explore the specials on Monday, especially Chicken Marsala. I had it, and it's wonderful: http://www.cafecoco. net/Italian_market_N ashville.html Here are very clear directions to Italian Market: http://www.cafecoco. net/Italian_market_N ashville_directions. html

Jamie Meredith has requested that I invite all the members of the Nashville Podcasting Meetup to Barcamp Nashville. I’m thinking of going! Greetings from the BarCamp Nashville Crew! http://barcampnashvi lle.com I am Jamie Meredith and I am the Marketing organizer for BarCamp Nashville 2008. I would like to formally invite the whole meetup group to this year’s BarCamp as I feel that many of your members might be interested in what BarCamp Nashville has to offer them! BarCamp Nashville is an open-source gathering of writers, entrepreneurs, technology enthusiasts, marketers, new media junkies and geeks who come together for one weekend to share what they know and learn what they don’t. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join. BarCamp, being held on October 18 at the Sommet Center, is free to all of those who would like to attend and is a fantastic way to hear about all of the exciting things happening in Nashville’s digital world as well as meet some of your peers from not only Nashville but from all around the country. The event will be a full day of speakers, discussions, and networking in a casual setting that aims to educate as well as foster community.

Two Great New Podcast Books to Preview We will discuss podcasting and talk about future plans. What would we like to create individually? How can we assist each other in reaching our goals? I will bringing along the two books that Focal Press ( http://www.focalpres s.com ), which publishes books about media technology, sent me. The books are PRODUCING VIDEO PODCASTS by Richard Harrington and Mark Weiser ( http://www.focalpres s.com/Book.aspx?id=2 462 ), and PODCAST ACADEMY: THE BUSINESS PODCASTING BOOK by Michael Geoghegan, Greg Cangialosi, Ryan Irelan, Tim Borquin and Colette Vogele ( http://www.focalpres s.com/Book.aspx?id=8 34 ). If you decide to purchase any of these books above, use the following discount code: 92901 to take 20% off your purchase. Once again, you can examine the books, and I'll discuss opportunities that deal with these books in particular.
