In celebration of National DNA Day, we're sitting down with Dr. Jonathon Haines of Vanderbilt University's Center for Human Genetics Research to discuss the state of modern genetics research. Ever since the discovery of DNA, researchers have continued working to understand how these building blocks of all living things work. So bring your thoughts and questions on everything from the newest discoveries in gene therapy to how some are actually getting patents for genes.
Dr. Haines is the director of the Center for Human Genetics Research at Vanderbilt University. The center is dedicated to deciphering the genetic basis of rare and common human traits and to integrate this knowledge into the diagnostics, treatments, and preventions of human disease.
