Politics and Genetics - November Meetup

Are you the political black sheep of your family? Or do your political views line up with the rest of your relatives? How much of a role do your genes play in deciding if you lean toward the liberal or conservative side of politics? In the aftermath of the national election season, we'll sit down to examine how biology can affect one's world view with political science professor John Geer and developmental biologist Dr. David Bader of Vanderbilt University.

This was my first meetup, and it was definitely not what I expected. I thought it was a way to meet people who had common interests. It was just a speaking forum and no facilitation afterwards for having the participants interact or introduce themselves. At the end everyone just left promptly. I will probably not be reattending.

I've been to a couple events from this group in the past, and I agree, the social interaction aspect of meetup is really lacking from this group. It would be nice if there was at least some kind of icebreaker game or puzzle for people to participate in for the time between when the doors open and when the speaker starts the presentation.

Good feedback Amber and JoAnna! I'm sorry if the previous sessions haven't met your expectations. I'll share this within the organization. Always feel free to give us feedback. It's the only way we can improve.

No. These are always free and open to the public.
