As you know, we had a great group of folks meet up on Saturday to discuss our calendar and upcoming events. I just wanted to let the entire group know about a few things that came out of that meeting.
1. Arrington: We're trying to get a handle on the event at Arrington because right now we have a huge group RSVP'd. I haven't been out there before, but I'm guessing folks will need to bring lawn chairs. And I know folks will cancel in the next few weeks (don't forget our new attendance policy), but I'm also thinking we may not need 100+ covered dishes... We also talked about carpooling. If you'd like to do that, please go to the event page and leave a comment, including what part of town you're traveling from.
2. Event hosts: If you would like to host an event in your home (or another space), please let us know. We're hoping to schedule these events three months at a time. You can pick a theme (or have the group suggest one) or you can just have folks bring a wine and socialize with no set theme. If you are interested in hosting, that is great. It doesn't matter if you can host a big group or a small group or what part of town you're in. We've got a diverse group, and we'll make it work!
3. Happy Hour: It's been mentioned to me that we should have some sort of system where folks can plan more impromptu gatherings, like for a happy hour after work. A way to get the info to folks who might be interested, sometimes at the last-minute. At the meeting someone suggested the Meetup discussion board, but I am thinking our Facebook page might work for that too. If you're not on the FB page, please join us!
Just wanted to bring everyone up to speed. If you were unable to attend the meeting but you have an event idea, please let me know.
