“ Several of the "regulars" were there. We had three new attendees, at least two of whom are published poets. One person objected to the discussion of her pieces, or possibly that members discussed with each other rather than sticking to a regimented schedule of directing all comments to her. She gave the group a thorough dressing-down. It didn't change my opinions of the strong and weak points of her writing. Over the years, I've noticed that some people are very touchy about their poetry and take (or mistake) attendees' observations as personal attacks. Another new person had questions about our "rules" regarding what level of seriousness or styles are "allowed ". Uh, we don't need no stinkin rules. Your work is your work. ”
