UPDATE: I've changed the settings for the number of people who can attend our July meeting. I really want everyone who wants to attend to have the opportunity to do so. Go ahead and bring your work to share, if you have something. Please limit the pages to no more than five, and please make sure to bring enough copies for everyone to read. If you don't have anything for the group to critique, then no worries. You're still very welcome to join the group. I'm looking forward to seeing familiar faces and to meet the newcomers. See you in a week!

Thanks to all of you who came to the first meeting. It was great to meet everyone, learn about each of our goals and to share our thoughts and ideas about how we will grow and shape our group. To all who are interested in attending future meetups, please remember to RSVP. If by chance you RSVP "yes" but later learn that you can't attend a meeting, please be courteous and change your RSVP to "no" so that someone else can take your spot.

For July's meeting, I have changed the venue to Panera Bread on West End Avenue. This will be temporary, unless we decide we really like it there! After speaking with the manager at Borders, I learned that they will be "redoing" the store and therefore, will not be able to accommodate us in time for our July meeting. We will however, begin meeting there in August.

Keep writing and I hope to see you at the next meeting.

Hi. I'm not a member of this group, but I found this site online and thought i'd share it http://www.smithmag.net/ SMITH is the home of Six-Word Memoirs and a vibrant community of storytellers. Explore story projects, write your story & share it with friends. I am in no way involved with the link i just attached. just thought some of you might find it intriguing. best --

Thanks to Rebecca there was a sense of organization. I've looked for such a group. I went to another meet-up group where people did not bring copies of work for people and the atmosphere was more social. The small group enabled a brief discussion of the work presented. I believe I, as the writer, should only respond to questions asked. The work should speak for itself. I'm there to listen and grow. It was a worthwhile experience. I'll be back.

I don't know, Rebecca. So many people. I was really looking forward to someone leaving--or getting kicked out ("Bad memoirist! Bad!")--so that I could attend.

I'm very much looking forward to this Meetup. I tried to register last time but it was full.

    •  This was my first meetup with the group and I really enjoyed it. I'm a newbie and was very nervous but everyone was so kind and gave very insightful tips.
    •  It was most helpful to have printed pages passed out for comments! These were then returned. Oral comments and suggestions were given as well.
    •  I think it was really good. I need feedback. I appreciated it. If you don't get it, you can't grow as a writer. I liked the mix in the group, the ages, etc. Thank you Rebecca for pulling it all together and keeping everyone on course. See you all next month.
    •  The small group enabled members to connect with one another. The written comments received on my work meant much. I value the time and thought others take to offer suggestions from their perspective. Oral comments were also helpful in providing feedback to strengthen my works. Thanks to all. Jane
