Poetry Meetup

Agenda: 1: Get coffee, and maybe a pastry or a sandwich. Soup is good, too. 2: Sit around and trade news and gossip. 3: Get more coffee. 4: Talk about poetry. 5: Get some more coffee. (No, really, we spend most of the time talking about our poetry; yours, too, if you come. Bring enough copies so we can read along with you and make notes -- which you will get back.)
WARNING! Our discussions are free-for-alls and, although we mean no disrespect, sensitive people can be bothered by them until they get used to us.

I really enjoyed the conversation. Thank you for being both honest and matter of fact with critique. I look forward to bringing something next time!

I enjoyed myself. Definitely plan on returning next month. It is good to be around like-minded people.

I don't have any credentials other than a love of poetry, and an occasional need to write. I would like to introduce some routine into my writing practice, so I thought this might be a good place to start.

This is an excellent place to start. Although we don't require that you bring something new every month, you can consider it a deadline that you have to meet and make yourself write at least one poem a month.

Just joined this group, but I do not currently have any current poems to share. Can I still come? I'm looking to get back into my practice and think the company of other poets would help.

I have a work engagement in Murfreesboro that I must leave for at that time.

You are welcome to come for however long is good for you, and if you don't have a poem this time, you probably won't be the only one. We often have people who haven't written anything since the last meeting. As long as you are willing to comment on other people's poems, you are contributing.

That last comment was about staying only until 4 because of having to leave town.

I would love to join you although this coming meeting is not good for me. I have published poetry in small lit journals and was part of a Haiku book that came out a few years ago. I was one of several poets who contributed.

Denise, we meet every month, so if you can't make this one, you are welcome to come next month.
