Mystery, Suspense, Thriller Writers

We  meet on the first Sunday of each month.

Due to unforeseen circumstances at the library, we are moving the group BACK TO LITTLE CHICAGO for now.   Lotsa change, right?

We are also going back to the 1:00 meeting time, so eating lunch during the meeting will be more of a possibility.

The main problem we had there in the past was parking.  Here's a suggestion on where to park for free.  On 18th Ave.  It is part of Music Row, and at that hour on Sunday, has plenty of on the street parking.  It is one of the spurs off the traffic circle, so you will be walking a couple of blocks, so allow a bit more time.  Otherwise, you'll be coming back to your beloved chicken parm,  giant fries, humus, carrot cake, and the same group of kind, incisive, encouraging, brilliant peers.   Also celebratory beverages can be purchased when people get publishing contracts and don the Venerable Crown of Publishing.  It's going to be great!

The Mystery Writer's Group is open to all writers, our philosophy, if we don't know the ending, we call it a mystery.

You need not be published or even in the process of writing to attend. If you've always wanted to write a mystery or enjoy reading them and want to learn more about the process, or if you're a published author that enjoys the feedback and camaraderie with other writers, we would love to have you attend.

So far we've avoided using the timer, but if the group continues to grow in size, we'll be divying up the time among those who brought copies of their work to pass out and read.  Please bring in no more than 5 double spaced, one sided pages of work you'd like to have critiqued. We ask that you advise the group of the kind of critique you'd like to receive, (grammar, content, plot...) and then remain silent until the critique process is over. Remember, you won't be able to follow your readers around explaining why you wrote what you did, so if it's not clear to our group then that is valuable information for you. Once the group has finished the critique, you will be asked for your impressions of what was discussed.

Killer Nashville---Meet me after my presentation this Sunday 8/24. My talk is from 11:20 to 12:20 so if any of you are interested I will meet you across the street at Dunkin Donuts for coffee and pastry. Please come by and introduce yourself. My talk will be in Broadway Ballroom G/H I think. 11:20a to 12:20p. I'll be presenting on Hostage/Crisis Negotiations and have some interesting personal stories to share. If you come to Dunkin Donuts afterwards we can talk and finally meet. I talked to Cheryl Rieger on Friday, but missed everyone else. I want to apologize for not finding you at your panels etc. I'm not normally this hair-brained, but I bit off more than I could chew. My email is [masked] if you want to contact me prior to, or after the talk. I will be writing an article on Killer Nashville for Suspense Magazine and I need some local authors to put in it. I hope to see you there.
I'll be at the Host Dinner tonight if you attend that.

I'm a new member and I hope to meet some of you at Killer Nashville. I will be giving one of the presentations--Hostage Negotiations 101--and hope many of you can attend. If you see me please introduce yourself. KN will be publishing the conference schedule soon, so keep checking for the panels and presentation times and rooms. Will the next meeting be Sept 7th? And where will it be held if anyone knows offhand. I missed the August meeting but will be settled in the new house here by September.I'm not attached to my wife's head as the picture shows, but you should be able to recognize me. haha

I'm running on next-to-no sleep. Not sure I can focus enough to give intelligent feedback. I should probably not drive, either. See you folks next month.
