“It's hard enough to write a good drama, it's much harder to write a good comedy, and it's hardest of all to write a drama with comedy. Which is what life is.” Jack Lemmon
If this strikes a chord with you, you are probably a comedy writer. I know. It’s hard to accept. I’m sorry. The good news is you are not alone.
This meeting is open to anyone interested in learning more about comedy writing. Whether you write long-form, sketch, stand-up, film, blogs, Youtube videos, comedic songs, plays, short stories…you are welcome! I also hope to explore the benefits of improv as a writing tool.
If you would like to present your work, please keep your selection to five pages, double-spaced in an 11-12 Comic Sans font (couldn't resist). It is helpful to bring copies for everyone.
If you are interested in performing a routine or sharing a video via laptop or tablet, please keep it to 5 minutes. Since comedy can be pretty subjective, writers will be asked what kind of feedback they wish to receive. No one should feel obligated to share. Just come for the laughs.
