Jan and Lea's Adobe
Dear Natural Builders waiting to spark connections with other local enthusiasts, builders, tinkerers, thinkers, dreamers, architects, designers----
My name is Lea. I would like to invite everyone out to our adobe on Sunday, October 14th. We would love some help on our Adobe (earthbag). I originally was inspired while taking a trip down in Summertown, Tennesse at the Farm for a National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools confrence. There they have an entire self sufficent ecovillage as they call it. They have a few cob/earthbag/strawbale houses/huts made from all organic or recycled materials. They are really beautiful. So, I decided to build one myself for my senior project with the never ending help from Jan, who you all may know already.
So here we have it- a natural earthbag hut in the middle of a cement parking lot in the forground and about 8 semi trucks in the background.. how ironic. It's a beautiful thing and we still have a long way to go. We would love for any help. I know we will all learn a lot from eachother.
Future additions: fire pit, benches, drainage route, sculpture. Oh yeah... We have a living roof on it as well! Please come out to see it and join us in maintaining our sybiotic relationship with the earth.
* Please respond with any questions and/ or concerns about the project or dates and times.
* 2225 York St. (blue Island)- (127th and California)

There will also be plenty of opportunity during our meeting to each talk about
-our interests in Natural Building
-what we'd like to learn
-what we what we'd like to see happen in Chicago
-projects we'd like to get our hands in
-projects we'd like others to help with
and we can all
please feel free to prepare some food or drink to share with the group!
P.S. The event fee is to help me out with maintaining the group. Its a suggested one dollar. Yahoo Meetup charges I think forty bucks to the organizer to utilize their internet forum. Ill double check on that amount... I am happy to organize and put in the effort, although I would like some monetary support from the community. Thank you!
