Monthly Meeting

  • Aug 26, 2012 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Please note! Date is changed to Sunday the 26th , because I have to work on Saturday (grrrr!!!!) We  will be working on a trench for a rubble foundation - we are still in the digging stage. If you like digging, shoveling and picking with a mattock (mattocking?) then by all means please come. RSVPing would be very helpful so I know how many will be working/eating, and if you aren't coming then un-RSVPing, even at the 11th hour, is helpful to me as well.

Join us for a monthly meeting of natural building enthusiasts! We meet monthly at Heather's house. Activities may include food, demos, speakers, and/or films, depending on season, interest, and number of attendees.

Please note - the house is no longer yellow with brown trim. It is now white with black trim. We just got new siding and we don't have the house number up yet.

Hi, Darron! I suspect Heather is busy so I'll just post a link to the photos I took. http://lairds.us/temp/naturalbuilding/

Great to meet the new folks and be part of the lively discussion. Looks like the wall is off to a great start. Thanks Heather and Roger for your fine hospitality making for "fun with natural building"!

We were just out there standing in the rain again checking out the drainage so far - thank you mother nature!'

Thanks everyone - with all of your help, it looks like we can realistically plan on gravel infill and drain construction for next month's meeting. I can't thank you enough for showing up in the rain. Roger had hoped to have a beer with everyone after the work was done, but with the deluge of rain I guess we got cut short. We will, quite literally, take a rain check on that next time.

No problem, it was a great meeting everyone ,and I was happy to be a part of everything. I'm looking forward to the building of the wall.

I was planning to take one or two of my dogs for a walk in town after this. Is it alright to bring them along? They can hang out (tethered) in the shade. (I have dreamt of teaching some of them how to dig on command but I haven't started yet.)

Sorry Kyler - I missed this when you posted it. Now that you've seen our setup, it would be fine to bring them next time in decent weather, but there isn't good outdoor doggy space where they would be sheltered from rain or sun.

I'll stick around for as long as I can. I have got a 3.5hr drive to SW Wisconsin following the meetup, and have to get ready for work the next morning. See you all tomorrow!

Great to see so many people rsvp - bring work gloves if you have them. If you have digging tools, especially shovels, you could being those too. See you tomorrow!

Will there be a meetup for the the actual build of the cob wall too? I would be more than happy to volunteer for that also!

    August 21, 2012

    • Heather

Absolutely - that is what everyone is excited about :) First I've got to get this trench dug and the gravel drain completed, stemwall built and then it will be cob time.

Gravel trench for cob wall is underway...we'll be working on the foundation!
