Thank you for your email. It is my understanding that this group focuses on natural building. Our group does not judge lifestyle choices for any aspect of our member's lives.
We do not regulate what a structure will be used for. We do offer support and encouragement for any natural buling project that passes our way.
I want to stress that I have full respect for your view points two of which directly correlate with the general purpose of our group "pvc" and "toxic materials". So we do have some common ground which I think is wonderful!
Let me share a little story with you and all:
I and three other members went to a workshop in Ohio recently. I bring this up because all the meals were vegetarian - not all the attendees were very excited about this. The subject of meat came up a few times - by the end of the nine day workshop I felt better and lost 9 lbs!!!!
You may be thinking "Peter, vegetarian is different from vegan" yes-I know this. However I only learned this recently. You see since I started on this natural building path a few years back I have started to make other discoveries beyond that of building with all natural materials like growing my own food, trying to not just recycle but to consume less, reuse (this is a big one for our group - we totally love reusing items out of the waste stream), and the big one for me is that just recently I have started to give deep thought to weather or not to eat meat. For the people reading this that know me you can pick yourself up off the floor now!!!! I shared this private piece of information to illustrate that we all change and are all on a journey. The one thing I can say is that this group has people with open minds and that is just one of many benifits of spending time with these wonderful beautiful people also known as th Chicago Natural Building Meetup Group!!!

Subject: Re: Re: [naturalbuilding-4] Happy New Year from the Chicago Natural
Hi, my name is Patrick. It seems like every message I get from the natural building meetup makes reference to building a "Chicken Coop". Unless this is to mean some sort of cooperative or rescue operation, I'm assuming it to be an enclosure to facilitate the imprisonment of chickens, the stealing of their reproductive secretions and/or preparing them for killing and feeding to humans and other domesticated animals who will proceed to develop diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, autoimmune diseases, etc as a result of consuming captive animals in place of healthy plant foods.
I joined the natural building meetup because I believe in a nonviolent harmonious future free from PVC and other dangerously toxic synthetic materials. I foresee us building vegan ecovillages here in Chicago and elsewhere. To this end, I want to surround myself with the people that share this peaceful vision and avoid connecting with those who aren't interested. In order to determine if this natural building meetup is an appropriate group for me, please let me know whether or not it encourages or otherwise endorses the status-quo treatment of our non-human brothers and sisters as commodities subject to enslavement, torture and killing.
Peace and love,
