Tree planting with DC Sierra Club

Tree Planting at the Armed Forces Retirement Home - 11/16/2013

Registration needed but right now there is no spot left for registering. You can join wait list if you cannot register. If someone cancels their registration I will let you know.

DC Sierra Club is partnering with our friends at Casey Trees to plant 50 trees around the Armed Forces Retirement Home. We will plant several ornamental trees of Korean origin along a new trail to honor veterans of the Korean War. We will also plant native shade trees around the grounds.

Casey Trees is a local group working to restore, enhance, and protect DC's tree canopy. This is very much in line with our own values and goals. Join us on November 16, 2013!

Where:
Armed Forces Retirement Home. 199 Rock Creek Church Rd, NW.
When: 11/16/13, 9am-12pm.
What to bring/wear: Closed toe shoes. Work gloves, tools, water provided.

RSVP: Sign up here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/8198442763?access=DCSierraClub.

Make sure you sign up under the "DC Sierra Club" section.

Notes: Breakfast and a celebratory lunch will be provided by Casey Trees.

Important information from Casey Trees about tomorrow's event: All volunteers must show a government issued ID – driver’s license or passport or some kind official photo id to be allowed on base.
Registration will be located on the grounds. Please enter the facility using the Eagle Gate at 140 Rock Creek Church Road NW. Once on base, follow the Casey Trees event signs to registration. If driving, you are welcome to park in lots 3 and 5. These will be marked. Please do not park in the Lincoln Cottage Lot or the Residents’ Lot.

The Armed Forces Retirement Home is a 0.8 mile walk from the Georgia Ave/Petworth Metro station (Green/Yellow line); however, there will be major metro delays this weekend. The Green line will be closed from the Archives to Navy Yard station. The Yellow line will be closed all together. For more information, see the WMATA.com site. There are several Metrobus lines in the area, including the H8, which stops right out front!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
