What: Dyke marsh wetland hike
Dyke marsh wetland hike

When: September 28,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Join us for a leisurely 5 mile hike of Dyke marsh wetland area including Dyke Marsh wildlife refuge. The hike will be over asphalt (mt. vernon trail), gravel (Dyke marsh park) and wooden boardwalks (both). I have seen red-winged blackbird, great egrets and herons in this area. There is a slight chance of rain but hike will proceed unless there is heavy rain. If there is light rain or drizzle please bring umbrella. The wetlands should look even more gorgeous if that happens. After the hike we'll carpool to Asian Bistro at 809 King st in Alexandria for lunch, unless people have other suggestions for restaurant.

Belle Haven marina and Dyke marsh park are located on George Washington parkway, about 2.5 miles from Huntington metro station. Going south from DC and downtown Alexandria, after crossing the Beltway on Washington St (which becomes GW parkway) in about 1.5 miles there will be a sign for Belle Haven rd. Very soon after that you will see a sign for Belle haven marina and picnic area. Turn left here, and then another left to get into the picnic area. Going north on GW parkway, you have to turn right soon after passing Belle view blvd.

Hope to see you all there!
