Announcing a new Meetup for nature lovers' meetup!
What: Birding at Rock Creek Park
When: May 2,[masked]:00 AM
Where: Click the link below to find out!
Meetup Description: Catch a piece of the spring migration with Nature Lovers meetup. We'll search for migrants in Rock Creek Park for a few hours, walking on both level and hilly trails and roadsides in woods and lawn for a couple of miles. As the trees will be fully leafed out, we'll rely heavily on birding by ear on this morning, near the peak of migration in the DC area. Birds to expect include flycatchers, vireos, thrushes and warblers (up to 20 species of the latter!)
We'll start birding in the parking lot of the Nature Center at 8am. Early risers can meet me at 7am in the same parking lot. Where exactly we'll be after 8am will in part be determined by the location of the birds. Likely we will check out the Maintenance Yard and Picnic Areas 17/18/19 which are both nearby.
Bring binoculars, field guide, water a snack and appropriate clothing. Mist or drizzle will not cancel event.
By 10 or 11am we'll finish so I can head to the Nature Lovers picnic, see that meetup for details.
