It WAS a lovely afternoon. Thanks to Kate for putting together the special challenge packs for the day's activity -- and to everyone else for showing up and participating.
If you didn't attend the June Meetup and would like the special challenge pack (enough stuff for 4 cards, to be traded at the July Meetup), let me know--we have a few extras.
By popular demand, we'll have jam cards and the standard challenge packs back in July. We'll also replenish our supply of blank ATCs and glue sticks for those who need them.
AND we'll be meeting in air-conditioned space in July and August, thanks to the efforts of our "inside connection," Tam.

HOW TO Wood Grain technique:
Look at different kinds of wood and just "copy" the grain with crayon or permanent (waterproof) marker/pen. Then wash over it with acrylic paint watered down a little.
Another option: use a lighter color with less water and cover the background. Let it dry a few minutes. Then, use a darker color with only a little water added to keep it somewhat thicker and wash over the first layer. While it is still moist, draw the stick end of the paintbrush through the paint in the pattern you want to let the lighter "grain" show through.
Jill Moon combined paint colors with a dry-ish brush that had some texture to it. Several of us expanded that by using the draw-the-pattern in marker technique with a single wash and then the dry-ish brush over the top in another shade to create even more "grain."
EXPAND your color palette--all wood grain need not be brown.
