Hi, Anne! I was thinking that, if we had a map with everyone's town on it. we could find a town somewhere in the middle of the map, and make an effort to find a meetup place there. Can you give me a list of all the towns our group lives in? Chris

Hi, folks:

It was great to meet those of you who showed up for our first hands-on session. I know it wasn't long enough; we'll definitely allow more time next time. Read on for thoughts about our Fall Meetup and a possible Interim Swap:

FALL MEETUP: I'll send around some possible dates for a fall meetup soon, probably in September or early October. I'll check with Absolutely Everything about their availability. But we're certainly not married to that location, so if you've got ideas about other locations that might loan or (cheaply) rent us workspace, that would be great. If you can check them out for us, that would be even better. Basically, we just need to know about availability, cost and any requirements or restrictions.

Michael's has been suggested. I'll check the one in Braintree if others can check stores elsewhere. If anyone has access to space at a church, workplace or school, that might be a possibility, too. In a location like that, we could probably schedule a full-day event for little or no cost. Let me know what you've got.

IN-BETWEEN SWAP: Because we didn't really have time to swap, Chris suggested that we get together for a session just to swap cards between now and our next hands-on session. That would be a much shorter session and wouldn't require hauling along craft supplies.

Anybody willing to take that on? You'd just need to come up with a place -- possibly a library, cafe, or other public space -- where we could hang out and trade for an hour or two. The Braintree library, where some of us first met, is closed on weekends during the summer, but many other libraries, including the newly renovated one in Quincy and the Boston Public Library, are open. Let me know what you think.

Again, great to meet all of you -- and I look forward to meeting those who couldn't make it at some point down the road.
