The so-called "Tea Party patriots" are having their 2nd annual "Tax Day Tea Party" in downtown Cleveland on Tax Day...
I (and another member or 2) was thinking that it would be interesting to go down there, right in the thick of it... not to cause any trouble or counter-protest or anything, but simply to observe. Think of it as "people watching" with a twist :)
Of course, I'll be bringing a video camera... I encourage anyone else who attends to bring at least a still camera, who knows what we might capture? ;)
Is the whole tea party "movement" as intellectually vapid as it appears from the media coverage? (Having Sarah Palin as their "figurehead" is quite sad, indeed). Is it just sore losership run amok? Or is there a bit more to it?
Let's go immerse ourselves & see what we see.
The rally itself starts at 4pm & goes 'til about 6... I thought we'd get downtown a bit early. Perhaps we'll go for a bite afterwards.
Obviously, parking downtown will be an issue... we're all on our own for that. Being as it that Thursday is a work day + all the conservatives converging on downtown (last year was around 5,000), I can't offer any decent suggestions for parking. I may take the bus myself.
As for where to meet each other, we'll post comments on the meetup closer to the event, or coagulate by cellphone before the rally.
