Another misleading idea is touting the amount of piracy and equating it with how much money they are losing. How many of those people would have bought that stuff had it not been available to pirate?

Maybe the latest Lady Gaga album, but the complete B-sides of Meatloaf and other common things people tend to download because it's so incredibly easy? Many people have colossal music collections full of pirated stuff that they *never* would have bought.

Plus there are a lot of really obscure old files out there that just aren't available for sale and the people who actually made the music would never see a penny for any way. At least if people hear the music that was previously trapped in the dust bins of the music industry the artists can get some appreciation for it.

This also reminds me of my anger at the cable industry and how they are locked into contracts formed decades ago so you must subsidize the Gourmet Ghost Bigfoots from Outer space channel, the all day Nostradamus does curling channel and the exploit children with screwed up parents channel in order to get HBO.

It's the business models, stupid! These rich business men probably complain about poor people sucking off the govt. teet when they can't take responsibility for their shitty business decisions.

I am in total agreement. They get little of my money anymore because they produce garbage, not because I'm pirating. The industry acts as if they are entitled to profit off of any old garbage they put out. They also act as if the public is so enamored with their trite trash that we simply cannot live without it, so we must be pirating if their profits are down.

Is anyone interested/available to try to have a meeting to express our disgust about this bill with Sen. Brown's staff here in Cleveland?
