Even with the name change, I'd still like to see jQuery covered – there are a lot of needs it still meets, and I'd hate for talking about it to be discouraged.
Agreed, hopefully my comment did not suggest complete avoidance of jQuery.
One final thing I'd really like to see: every (or almost every) technique, technology, etc that is taught should be able to be used immediately. While learning about the future is cool, I'd love for this meetup to provide relevant and immediately useful information. As an example, talking about a spec that has 20% browser support, and no polyfills holds less relevance than one that can be used in production the next day with broad support or workarounds.
In other words, if you're going to talk to us about Johnny-Five
