Ridin' into October! / Loudonville and Holmes County

  • Oct 5, 2013 · 11:00 AM
  • Holiday Inn

After a handful of input from you all I am going to plot a route South and West to cover your requests.  We will leave Holiday Inn @ 77 & Rockside at 11am.  I have plotted a route that includes a bit of freeway and then a bunch of back roads and country by-ways leading us into Loudonville.  We can hang at the Loudonville Street Fair as long as we like and then tour some of the area or head out through more back roads until we have had our fill.

This route will be about a 6/10 for skills.  Freeway speeds up to about 65-70mph.  Country roads with twisties n sweepers.  Please be confident in your skills when signing up.

The weather looks beautiful.  Should be a super day for riding.

Thanks, J. It was a good ride. I don't like rain especially, but after your boots fill up, it doesn't matter anymore.

Good to know I wasn't the only one with boots full of water. I could feel it sloshing back and forth every tme I went to shift or brake.

I have ridden about 18 rides with the group this season and this was by far the best! 10 guys who know how to ride heading into PA on country roads. Perfect weather (even the downpour was great) . Perfect group of zero drama bikers. This is why I love the 99ers! Thank you all for a great day!

There may be some wet stuff heading into the Loudonville area. We will discuss the route and destination at the launch. The ride is ON for all who are flexible about the route.

I don't know what J has in mind for geting to Loudenville, but the area is so pretty he can't go wrong with this ride regardless of what roads he takes. I rode Route 3 all the way to Columbus. it is a great motorcycle road once you get south of Medina.

    The Loudonville Street Fair

I was planning on it. My niece and I really wanted to hit up the street fair. I went 2 years ago and really liked it. It's very old school--not commercialized like our fairs here.

      1 · October 4, 2013

    • J

Hmmm old world, small town fair might just work....

      October 4, 2013

  • J

Looking at those signed up... we don't really seem like the "street fair" type. Anyone care if we drop the street fair and just ride?

Do I hear Gremlin Bells ringing? Ride is what I'm in for. What ever call you make J, I'm good with. RSVP IN.

      October 4, 2013

    • Darlene

My niece and I were planning on checking out the street fair for while, grabbing some food and a few drinks at the Eagles Club-the Eagles Club was open to the public for this event 2 years ago.

      October 4, 2013

  • Tony B.

My bike is in the shop for warranty work. If it is returned before the ride, I'll RSVP and show up. My girl is being transferred to NC for the winter, so this might be my lat chance at an Ohio ride before winter.

Our family has a home in Pinehurst which is 2 miles from Southern Pines. You can throw on leathers and ride almost every day except in January and even then there is the occasional day in the 50's. Be sure to check out The Sly Fox Pub in Southern Pines. Sandhills HD is just north of town on Rte 15-501. Best breakfast hands down is Sizzlin Steak&Eggs on Route 1 about 5 minutes south of downtown Southern Pines.

      October 3, 2013

    • Bob & M.

Oh yeah...and breakfast at Mac's right in downtown Southern Pines is a definite one to do.

Tony and I are planning on taking the backroads to Hartville on Saturday. We take Canal Road out to 303 then 43, & 619. That takes us past the Twin Lakes and through Kent. I'm wanting to stop at the Hartville marketplace for an outside show.

    October 1, 2013

    • J

Damn it woman- you can go to the flea market anytime. Come ride with me :P

      1 · October 2, 2013

    • Gloria

...lol. Not looking to go to the flea market, that I can give up easily. This is their once a year craft show out front. Only takes me about an hour to go through it. It helps give me ideas for the senior citizen craft classes I teach. So we make it a riding day out of it anyways, scenic route there, about an hour to do my look, and riding the rest of the day.

A new look at the area we live in. Relatively short segments of ride with stops in or views of glacier made landscape forms?

Fall Ride through the Amish County Byway surrounding Millersburg. That area is suppose to have one of the most beautiful Fall scenery and roads in the country. Here's a map: http://goo.gl/IMSe9G

    September 30, 2013

    • James M.

Yes. And the best byways have no painted lines on the road, nor any utility lines overhead.

      September 30, 2013

We did this ride 2x this year, I was hoping for something new.
