Do to mean ole mother nature I am rescheduling this ride/event. Please update your RSVP accordingly.
This is one of my favorite ride/events that I have set up in a long time. I have arranged for a private tour of Lakeview Cemetery for our group. If you have been there you know how incredible it is. If you have never been there you will be amazed.
The Lake View Cemetery, founded in 1869, has 285 acres that are a treasure chest of gems in landscapes, landmarks, and legacies. Notable persons who’ve make The Lake View Cemetery their final place of rest: billionaire industrialist, John D. Rockefeller and his wife, Laura Spelman Rockefeller; inventor, Garrett A. Morgan; Cleveland Orchestra founder, Adella Prentiss Hughes, and Orchestra benefactor, John L. Severance; social worker, Jane Edna Hunter; law-man, Eliot Ness; and United States President, James A. Garfield. (pictured)
We will meet at QSL in Valley View and have an early lunch. We will leave QSL by 12noon and ride through the valley into Cleveland. I will route us through downtown and past some of the newer architecture that are making our city strong once again. We will end this ride at Lakeview Cemetery for a private tour at 1pm. This is a walking tour that will last about 1.5 hours with plenty of opportunity for pictures and exploring. Please know that Lakeview is NOT a normal cemetery. Think of things like Rockefeller's monument that is 65 feet tall and weighs 357,680 pounds!!!
The cost or the tour is $5 per person MINIMUM! Lakeview is run by a private, non-profit company and any/all donations are welcome. Please note that there is a limit of 60 for this - a waiting list will be available if/when we hit that limit.
Please note that this ride will be casual and off highway but will travel through city streets. There is a chance for city traffic and potential for lousy road conditions (this is Cleveland). Please be confident in your riding skills and familiar with group riding rules. ( http://files.meetup.com/1222068/Group_Ride.pdf )
