We all learned a little something at the High last night ...
Saturday, July 17, 2010 2:18 PM
Some learned that they REALLY like jazz.
Some learned that they don't like European design.
Some learned that the High's layout is very confusing but worth the runaround.
I learned that:
My vacuum and my 99 cents plastic plant watering can are both museum pieces.
That people are taking the changing the RSVP thing seriously. (bless you)
And ...there is a learning curve for being an organizer.
I am new at this organizing thing ...outside of movies and dinner. I've got that down. I am not a professional event planner nor do I play one on TV. I'm just a chick who likes stuff that's not-so-mainstream and enjoys meeting people who have similar interests. And I think this group is terrific. It is a labor of love. So much so that I drove from Birmingham straight to the High to make sure that I was on time to meet you guys last night.
So be patient. I'm getting better at this. I can't promise you that Nerd Fun will ever be as polished as Sky's the Limit or some of the other groups. But I can promise you that the events will rarely be commonplace, you'll meet cool people and you might find yourself with new career possibilities (as one member did last night). I'm looking to meeting more of you at the next week's meet ups.
In the meantime, nerd on my friends.
Very truly yours,
Chief Nerd Herder, Nerd Fun - Atlanta
P.S. Nerd Fun - Atlanta is always looking for assistant organizers and meet up ideas. ;^)
