Hi Dave,

Your email is chock full of stuff and didn't answer everything...

Experimental Center-would be great to find out what they know. ?Everyone keeps suggesting the Innovation Center, but I just remembered that I had spoken to them-they only hold about 100. ?I have been told that 150 may even be too small for what this might attract...

I am very open to what happens at the actual event. ?Projects, learning tracks-tho with just a 1 day event, learning tracks might be over-kill.?

Thanks so much for all of your ideas...keep 'em coming!

I'll keep you posted.

Heidi

I'd love to help! Let me know what would be most helpful. Should I ping ES folks and get their take on this? I can also try ACM at UIC, in case they or another student body would be interested in helping to organize the Innovation Center and possibly fund it (if needed) ...that would be a really awesome venue for this kind of thing. I ran a "code for a cause" sprint to build a Drupal-based website for an org with no budget at the Flourish conference there a couple of years ago.

Are projects intended to happen during the event? Are there learning tracks, or pure volunteer / nonprofit partnerships to build stuff?

Thanks!

?Dave.

Hey Everyone,

Hope you enjoyed the sunshine today.

As many of you know I am working on a tech/nonprofit conference in partnership with NetSquared. Many in the tech community are eager to volunteer with a community benefit/nonprofit organization. However they are not sure how to find an organization that needs a volunteer. Additionally, many organizations are pretty desperate for some tech support. The challenge is to connect these two communities.

While attending the delightful SocDevCamp last fall, the wheels began turning and I decided it would be terrific to have a conference that would align these 2 populations in order to create a little social good! So now, I am working feverishly to find a location for the conference. We are hoping to make it happen in the next few months.

Is anyone willing to look into some possible locations for the conference? We are guessing we will have at least 150 participants. We would need a large room for a key note and at least 6-8 break out rooms for sessions. We would run the event from 8:00 AM until around 5:00 PM. We are hoping that the space will have wifi and the ability to do some other tech type things as well. We also are hoping the space will be pro bono. (Greedy, I know!)

Let me know if you are able to help out with this. It will be a great event...if we can just figure out where to hold it!

Thanks for your help everyone!
