We'll be featuring Greg Bloom of Bread for the City: www.breadforthecity.org.

Bread for the City provides vulnerable residents of Washington, DC, with comprehensive services, including food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. "Pimp my Nonprofit" is our regular bi-monthly brainstorm session. This time, we're helping Bread for the City take their tech strategy and online communication efforts to the next level.

It's half brainstorming session, half case-study. During the conversation, everyone will have a chance to participate and learn vicariously from some of the leading technology and communications experts in DC. We encourage any consultants and geeks in the audience to show up and strut your stuff.

I applaud the efforts of the presenter to push his organization toward social networking as a means of building their reputation. His picture is not unlike that of many nonprofits who depend on individual donors who are more comfortable with print still. That disparity will probably remain for some time. I thought some of the ideas he got for bridging the two worlds were excellent.

Excellent insight into the technology and online communications needs of a highly effective nonprofit. They needed a lot of help and they got it. Inspired me to volunteer for the org.
