As you may have seen Phil is stepping down as Organizer. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his contributions to the Netsquared community.
We are looking for several individuals to help lead the Netsquared DC community. This is a great opportunity to expand your network, and help shape the community. See below for more information about Netsquared and the benefits of being an organizer.
If you are interested in joining as a organizer, please send the following information to [address removed] with Netsquared Organizer in the Subject line by October 10.
Experience with the nonprofit technology community:
Why would you like to join the organizing team?
What are some ideas you have for future events?
WHAT IS NETSQUARED?
NetSquared is an initiative of TechSoup Global that is about “making it easy, meaningful, and fun for people and organizations to get the information, visibility and support they need to accelerate the impact of social-benefit projects.”
WHAT IS NetSQUARED DC?
NetSquared DC is a vibrant local community thriving at the intersection of social change and technology. We’re part of a global NetSquared movement that focuses on the exponential impact we can have when we combine our hunger for change with powerful new technologies.
We’re proud to be one of the largest and longest-running NetSquared Local groups around, and thank our amazing members who come out in force each month to share what they’ve learned and get to know each other better.
We usually meet at 7pm on the third Tuesday of each month at the Affinity Lab on U Street NW, DC’s greatest entrepreneurial launch space. A full archive of our past events is available here on our Meetup page at http://www.meetup.com/net2dc.
WHO ARE NETSQUARED ORGANIZERS?
NetSquared organizers are passionate community-minded volunteers who believe that change is accelerated when social benefit organizations leverage the tools of technology and the social web. They understand the power of bringing people together face-to-face and are especially interested in connecting social benefit and technology innovators.
NetSquared organizers commit to holding a monthly meeting that is free-of-charge and open to all interested members of the public. Events should be focused on topics at the intersection of technology and social change.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BEING A NETSQUARED ORGANIZER?
Nothing is going to be better for your reputation than being a NetSquared organizer because you become a vital connector for the social benefit and technology communities. Being an organizer is a highly skilled and self-directed volunteer job that enables you to build your skills through the support of a network of similarly-minded community-oriented organizers.
NetSquared organizers often see these benefits emerge:
Speaking requests (You’ll establish yourself as an expert in your sector.)
Job offers (NetSquared DC is all about networking.)
Friendships and mentorships (NetSquared is a magnet for your kind of people.)
Organizers have access to the following resources:
A free subscription to Meetup.com
A group page on the NetSquared.org platform and preferred posting privileges on our blog
Support of the NetSquared Local Community Curator
Connections to other organizers around the world through direct referrals and regularly scheduled online hangouts
Membership in a private email list of local organizers who are able to provide support
Access to the Organizer’s Handbook, which offers templates for events and tips for success
Support for holding local or regional camps
