The Future is Now: Building a Fiber-powered network and the Future of Broadband
Join us as we welcome Geoff Daily, Editor of App-Rising.com, Executive Director of Rural Fiber Alliance and an expert on broadband networks and policy.
Mr. Daily will lead us in a discussion about the future of broadband in our region and around the country. What lessons can NOLA learn from other cities? How can we build an infrastructure on par with others in our region such as LFT? What sources of funding are available for that pursuit?
This should prove to be a lively discussion so put your fiber-optic powered thinking caps on and come prepared to enter the future!

We understand that everyone who comes to Net2NO events have very different motivations. Part of the reason for the move to Le Chat was an attempt to accommodate... those who want to network and socialize can stay in the bar area and those who want to listen to the speakers fill the auditorium. We had to make do without the back room last night and unfortunately some folks just weren't being considerate.

That said, I thought Mr. Daily was a remarkably captivating guest, not only knowledgeable and informative but motivational. I am confident that the members of our community will lead the charge to make fiber a reality in New Orleans. Certainly, connectivity is no cure all but when you look at the many facets of life it can impact the potential is infinite. Improved education, more efficient healthcare, economic development, not to mention the jobs that would be created during the laying of the infrastructure

James A. LancasterI thought the content was phenomenal, and it was encouraging how many other members also realize the importance of the hardware in our future tech endeavors. I hope y'all will post the speaker's facebook contact. He's a great resource. However, I'm very disappointed in those who stood in the back and did not stop talking for over 90 minutes and had to be continually shushed. It was rude to the speaker, and disrespectful to everyone else who came to listen to HIM. They could have taken their conversation anywhere, chatted online, or they could have whispered, but instead, they had no regard for anyone else and had normal bar-style conversation in the back of the room which made it hard for everyone else to hear. Mainly, I was aggravated because I had 4 events to go to between Net2NO and election forums, and I chose Net2NO. After the frustration of trying to listen and think with all that commotion, it makes me wonder if I might have had a better time at the council-member forum.

Susan WhelanThis topic was too technical. I have enjoyed the other topics so far, but this was uninteresting to me. The speaker was clearly very knowledgeable. Obviously I was not the only one uninterested in the topic, as there was a great deal of talking amongst the attendees.
