Just wanted to give the headsup about an event that our friends at SENO (Social Entrepreneurs of New Orleans) are hosting tonight at our favorite Magazine Street Hang-out, Bridge Lounge:
SENO Group Think Event with Blake Haney of Humid Beings: February 11th Join SENO for our first Group Think event of 2009!
What: Our monthly Group Think events feature one or more New Orleans Social Entrepreneurs, and allow members of the community to learn about about their business or organization, and to contribute thoughts and ideas about the needs of that particular social entrepreneur. It's an informal, interesting way to learn about about SENO and social entrepreneurship in New Orleans.
When: Wednesday, February 11th, from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Where: The Bridge Lounge back room, 1201 Magazine St.
Who: Blake Haney, founder of Humid Beings.com, which is a publishing platform and portal that will unite those who understand New Orleans via the web. The site will not just work with local media in republishing their content but also allow for individuals to set-up accounts so they can blog, post images, podcast and add commentary throughout the site. We will be aggregating all the local voices we can.
Net2NO (pronounced "NetSquared New Orleans" or "Net Two Know") is known as the "granddaddy the tech and startup community" in New Orleans. Founded in 2008 as a way to get local entrepreneurs, innovators and tech people into the same room, it has grown from a mere 30 members to over 1, 100 people. We're the fourth largest Net2Local meetup group in the world (out of 75 total), and our members have started a variety of spinoff groups, events and companies including GNOCODE, NewOrleansTech.net, Teen Tech Day and TribeCon.
NetSquared Local groups hold monthly events that take place in cities around the world (ours are the first Tuesday of every month, from 6-9 pm at Marlene's on the River), convening changemakers to share ideas, learn from each other, and even collaborate on projects for real world impact. These gatherings provide a chance to connect for all those interested in the intersection of social technologies and social change. In New Orleans, it's also an opportunity for like-minded people to get together and drink, be inspired, and meet amazingly talented individuals who are doing great things in our city.
Net2NO: Innovation. Inspiration. Inebriation.
In other words, we are a Clearinghouse of Awesome. Join us.
